25 Most Common Feelings and Emotions in Arabic

Describing feelings and emotions is a core part of communication in any language. Many of us learn the basics early on in our language studies - the good/bad, happy/sad - but can struggle to communicate more nuanced feelings as we develop more proficiency. Maybe you’re feeling upset by something a colleague said or you’re stressed about an upcoming test. Being able to express and understand these more precise feelings is an important step in moving into intermediate and advanced Arabic.

In this vocabulary list, we’re going over the 25 most common feelings and emotions in Arabic. Most of these terms can be expressed with either an adjective or verb. The verb version makes a sentence a bit more active while the adjective is more passive, but the forms are essentially interchangeable in most situations. Mastering both will help you communicate with more dexterity.
