My.Kali Mag

When My.Kali Mag (ماي كالي) launched in 2007, it was the first Jordanian online publication to focus on LGBTQ+ life. It began as a sort of blog and arts collaboration between model and activist Khalid "Kali" Abdel-Hadi and fellow students with backgrounds in the arts, politics, and design. The magazine they created is a combination of their different interests, showcasing photography, opinion pieces, artist interviews, and more. The content is both intellectually and aesthetically intriguing.

Over the last fifteen years, My.Kali’s popularity has grown and its content has evolved. Originally an exclusively English magazine, My.Kali began publishing in both English and Arabic in 2016. The site was subsequently blocked in Jordan for a year, but is once again accessible in Jordan in both  Arabic and English. Their bi-monthly publications forefront LGBTQ+ people, their opinions, and their projects, but also address topics of gender and sexuality, alternative communities, and new-media. Sometimes the content is quite personal and specific, other times it focuses on broader topics such as migration and belonging.
